There are no beaches on this island but lots of art and spectacular panoramic views. This island is has tried hard to preserve its relaxed feel and control commercial development.
- Calusa Heritage Trail - Tour an actual archeological site of the Calusa Indians. - Matlacha Art Galleries - The colorful "Key West-like" downtown of Matlacha is right on Pine Island Road as you enter Pine Island. Explore a few art galleries and enjoy an ice cream cone.
- Museum of the Islands - This small, two room museum gives you a unique look at the history and residents of the island. Take a self guided tour with a recorded narrative of the museum contents and take some time to chat with the volunteer docent. http://www.museumoftheislands.com/
